August 18th in Stockport. I'm hosting (and opening) a private house concert by Bonnie Bishop. She is the writer of the New York Times' 2012 song f the year, "Not Cause I Wanted To" which is on Bonnie Raitt's latest album Slipstream. You may have seen Bonnie Raitt performing the song on Later with Jools Holland a couple of weeks ago. This will be a very intimate event and a chance to see a rising star. www.bonniebishop.comSearch YouTube/not cause I wanted to/Bonnie Raitt for the Jools Holland video. Please contact for details. Quick reminder about this. It will be in Stockport. Very limited space left. Well worth seeing Bonnie, she's great.

I'm off to see Martyn Joseph with my wife on Sunday at the PalmHouse in Sefton park, Liverpool. It's a wedding anniversary present to ourselves to celebrate 15 happy years (we've been married 29; I reckon 15 of them have been happy) Just seen this Leo , how did you enjoy Martyn ?

As Martin has put up , Luke Jackson is currently on tour and is playing 3 Scottish dates Aviemore , Aberdeen and Glasgow . The Glasgow gig is in the Victoria bar bistro , there is no ticket cost , just reserve a table for dinner and the gig is free . This is superb value, a lovely meal and probably the best young player around . If youve never seen or heard Luke then your in for a treat ,he really is superb .

I'm guessing this isn't the Victoria Bar at the bottom of Stockwell Street...? Dinner used to be a pie at this establishment.

I'm not actually sure where it is but looking at their menu and reading online reviews its either changed since you were there or a different place all together as its got some great reviews . They host quite a few gigs . Tbh I'm not really going for the meal its the chance to see Luke I'm looking forward to .

A bridge, a hospital, several roads and a park too. The old girl certainly got around...

I think the `Band on the Wall` did shut dowm for a short while afew tears ago. Fortunately it was refurbished and hosts music most nights a week. Also as a charity it also has guitar and harmonica courses , plus a load of other arts based stuff. It will be my first visit for years, since the late 70`s to be exact, when it used to have punk and new wave bands on. Ahhh, pogoing and headbanging, it was all down hill after that !
